Falls Park anti-social behaviour being investigated by police

Buses have been attacked in the area around Falls Park, police say.

Stones were thrown at the vehicles, with one ending up with broken windows, on Saturday evening.

Inspector Hamilton said: “Police received a report shortly after 5.50pm that damage had been caused to a bus, resulting in a number of broken windows.

“A further report was later received at around 7.45pm that stones had been thrown at another bus, also in the Falls Park area. Officers attended, and a number of young people were observed in the area. They subsequently left upon arrival of police.

“Police conducted a number of follow up patrols in the area, and a quantity of alcohol was seized. No damage to the vehicle was detected.”

The police made a broader appeal for people to report anti-social behaviour.

Inspector Hamilton added: “We want to stress that police take reports of this kind of incident very seriously, and I want to appeal to those who are involved it to think about the consequences of their actions.

“I would also continue to encourage everyone to report incidents of anti-social behaviour. These reports create opportunities for intervention and prevention by police and other partners.

“Reporting crimes or incidents that impact on your quality of life helps focus our patrols where they are needed and take positive action. Ring us on 101, report online at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport or speak directly to your Neighbourhood Team.”

The police added that a report can also be made using their online reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport or information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.
