Fallout: London will get a major update and patches designed to fix crash issues plaguing the game mod's launch. This is according to posts on the Team FOLON Discord, the messaging platform where the Fallout London dev team offers the latest info on the mod.
Fallout: London players will be particularly interested because while the project has been described as one of the best and biggest game mods of all time, its launch has been mired in bugs.
"We have some big plans for the future, starting with a hotfix,” the team's statement reads.
“This hotfix will address some crashes and include essential systems like "Buffout 4," which will be merged into the mod itself.”
“The future is bright! We’re already working on a HUGE patch that will address all the issues reported in our Discord.. So, the plan is: hotfix first to stop and help with the crashes, then a big patch after.”
Fallout: London has been almost universally praised for the quality of its world-building of an apocalyptic London. Its voice cast includes former Doctor Who actor Sylvester McCoy and ex-Speaker of the House John Bercow.
But actually playing it can be a trial due to regular crash-causing bugs.
"I'm still running into my own personal apocalypse every 5-15 minutes,” says PC Gamer.
The Fallout: London team has not announced any timing details for the hotfix patch or the larger update. However, it is holding a developer walkthrough session where more information may be revealed.
This will be on Thursday (August 8) at 8pm on the Team FOLON Twitch channel.
“We’re immensely proud of the successful release of Fallout: London! Our amazing team's unwavering dedication and hard work have made this dream a reality,” the team’s Project Lead Dean Carter told Evening Standard.
“As we shift our focus to resolving any launch issues, we also want to express our deep gratitude for the generous donations we've received.”
Have you missed out on the Fallout: London buzz and launch entirely? This is a massive fan-made mod for Fallout 4, one that adds a new campaign and a game world based on London. It features 15 boroughs, from Croydon to Hackney.
It's free to download and play but does require Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition, on GOG or Steam.
For the easiest install process, head to GOG rather than Steam.
