Falkirk landscapers travel to Ukraine to help those desperate flee conflict

Two Falkirk landscapers have travelled to Ukraine to help people flee the country while it is under attack from Russia.

Joseph McCarthy, who owns Ready2Rock, and his colleague Gary Taylor set off last week in their work van - which they've kitted out with sleeping bags and food for those most in need.

The two lads have been broadcasting their journey live on TikTok, with air raid sirens and explosions heard in the background.

So far, they've been using their own cash, but have since set up a GoFundMe to buy food and other items for Ukrainian's who have been left with nothing.

Grangemouth builders merchants IBT, where Joseph gets some of his supplies, have made a donation.

In one of their recent videos, they were helping a woman and her son who needs 24 hour, round the clock care.

The footage showed all the medical equipment they were packing, along with the young lad lying on a bed.

Joseph said: "After watching the news all day on Thursday I decided I needed to go and help people who are stuck or having to walk to the border because they have no transport.

"Gary who works with me agreed to come along too.

"We emptied out the van, carpeted the back and have sleeping bags and duvets to keep people warm.

"Any donations to help us on our mission will be much appreciated."
