Falcons sign veteran QB to practice squad, release offensive tackle

On Tuesday afternoon, the Atlanta Falcons signed veteran quarterback Nathan Peterman to their 16-man practice squad, per team reporter Terrin Waack. In a corresponding transaction, the Falcons released offensive lineman Julién Davenport from the practice squad.

Peterman, 30, was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft. Over his first two seasons in Buffalo, he passed for three touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Peterman played for the Las Vegas Raiders from 2020-2021 and spent the last two years in Chicago, appearing in five games and passing for one touchdown and one interception.

The Falcons recently traded veteran Taylor Heinicke to the Los Angeles Chargers for a conditional seventh-round draft pick that could become a sixth-rounder based on playing time. Peterman could eventually be signed to the 53-man roster since the team still has one spot available.
