The Falcons didn’t take long to find a new starting quarterback after trading Matt Ryan to the Colts in exchange for a 2022 third-round pick.
Atlanta has signed Marcus Mariota, the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, to a two-year deal, the team announced over Twitter Monday afternoon.
We have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with QB Marcus Mariota.

Mariota has played in 74 games with 61 starts, throwing for 13,437 passing yards, with 77 touchdowns and 45 interceptions for a passer rating of 89.5.
After playing five years for the Titans, Mariota spent two seasons as a backup to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.
Falcons head coach Arthur Smith has experience working with Mariota in Tennessee. While this doesn’t mean the Falcons won’t select a quarterback in next month’s draft, Mariota will likely be the starter in Atlanta this season.
