The Atlanta Falcons have signed wide receiver Phillip Dorsett to the final spot on their 16-man practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. Dorsett, 31, was selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts.
The veteran wideout has played for six teams over the last eight seasons, totaling 151 catches for 2,001 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Dorsett’s best season came in 2016 when he racked up 33 catches for 528 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
In 2023, he appeared in three games for the Denver Broncos but did not record a catch. Atlanta has been somewhat thin at wide receiver since Rondale Moore went down during the preseason. Dorsett gives the team more depth at the slot receiver position.
The team added two other players to the practice squad on Monday, signing linebacker Rashaan Evans and offensive lineman Tyrone Wheatley Jr. The Falcons released offensive lineman Coy Cronk and linebacker Monty Rice.
