Falcons restructure Jake Matthews’ contract, free up $7 million

The Atlanta Falcons restructured the contract of left tackle Jake Matthews to free up over $7 million in cap space, ESPN’s Field Yates reported Wednesday morning.

A portion of Matthews’ 2023 base salary was converted into a signing bonus, according to Yates.

The team has yet to officially announce the restructure. According to Over The Cap‘s projections, the Falcons currently have just over $600,000. That number would bump up closer to $8 million with Matthews’ restructured deal.
