Ejiro Evero’s schedule is continuing to fill up.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Atlanta Falcons want to bring in the Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator for a second interview regarding their opening at head coach. This is Evero’s third known follow-up for a head-coaching vacancy, with the Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks reportedly making plans for the 43-year-old as well.
Evero was a pretty popular name following the 2022 campaign, his first ever as an NFL defensive coordinator. The Denver Broncos ranked seventh in total defense that season under the young play-caller.
The Panthers, who were also interested in Evero as a head-coaching candidate during last year’s search, ultimately hired him to their defensive coordinator role. Despite quite a few injuries to some key defenders, Carolina ended up allowing the fourth-fewest yards per game in 2023.
In addition to Evero, Atlanta has carried over former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan into the second stage of their hunt.
