Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins turned in his best game of the season in Week 5, passing for 509 yards and four touchdowns during the team’s 36-30 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cousins has been awarded NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his dominant performance in Thursday’s divisional showdown. After five games, Cousins has 1,373 passing yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions for a passer rating of 93.7.
The Falcons started slow this season but got through a tough opening stretch with a 3-2 record. Thursday’s win put Atlanta in first place in the NFC South.

Cousins earned the team’s highest Pro Football Focus grade in Week 5, but there were some other notable contributors. Wide receiver Drake London had 12 catches for 154 receiving yards and a touchdown. Darnell Mooney posted nine catches for 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
KhaDarel Hodge made the play of the game in overtime, taking a short pass and outrunning the Buccaneers defense for a 45-yard walk-off touchdown. Hodge had two catches for 67 receiving yards in Week 5.
The Falcons have another division game coming up in Week 6. The team will travel to Charlotte this weekend for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the 1-4 Carolina Panthers. Atlanta is a 5.5-point favorite over Carolina.
