For the first time in a long time, Falcons have a team they can actually feel good about. Thursday night’s 36-30 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was crazy yet somehow on-brand for this 3-2 Atlanta team.
Not only did Kirk Cousins pass for 509 yards and four touchdowns, but the Falcons now lead the NFC South after starting the season 1-2. The team’s Week 5 victory was the kind of game the team has been unable to win in recent years.
Part of that was due to the Falcons not having a competent quarterback, some was not having a coach that the players could rally around. Head coach Raheem Morris has infused this team with energy and it’s becoming contagious.
