With the Detroit Lions banged up, the Atlanta Falcons appeared to have an advantage going into Week 3. However, the Falcons offense was unable to do much of anything, allowing seven sacks in Sunday’s 20-6 loss.
Atlanta was held to 44 rushing yards and the team finished with just 183 yards of total offense. Rookie Bijan Robinson had just 10 carries for 33 yards, QB Desmond Ridder seemed rattled for much of the game and the play-calling left a lot to be desired.
Buy Falcons TicketsFalcons fans on Twitter were furious with the team’s poor offensive showing in Week 3.
I’m tired of watching the falcons offense run 2 man routes with 8 man protection.
Ridder has no chance in this scheme.

Jessie Bates' ball skills are so sick

Waking nightmare game for the Falcons.
No question Detroit's a tough opponent, but Atlanta just looks hapless offensively. Too much of an investment on that side of the ball to look like this on any given Sunday

Yeah, I’m not bugging about this loss. pic.twitter.com/0V45QDGNSI

I don’t think Ridder has “it”

Arthur Smith said the story of the game is that the Falcons offense had too many negative plays on early downs.
"We have to do a better job… There are some tough lessons learned."

I don’t think the Falcons have problems that can’t be fixed this season. I think they have some key problems, and it’s why I don’t think they’re going to be able to play their style against better teams and always get away with it, especially on the road. Not end of world.

Don't blame this loss on Desmond Ridder.. Falcons o-line was awful this afternoon –
Patrick Mahomes would have trouble moving the ball with that performance— Zach Klein (@ZachKleinWSB) September 24, 2023
Ridder looked just as terrible as Mariota this game and every single excuse being used for him is the same you used to defend mariota lmfao
— Carlton (@CrispyCarlton) September 24, 2023
He didn't help his cause. Held onto balls too long. Sacks are going to come (unless you're playing the Falcons Defense) but he's got to be more accurate when the pass is there. The coach has to recognize that the line is not holding up and call some screen plays or something.
— Henry Hamilton (@HHamilton_MBA) September 24, 2023
Arthur Smith’s problem now is that he’s predictable. Every play they’ve run hasn’t fooled Detroit at all. People say Ridder is limited. There’s some truth to that, but the REAL issue is that Arthur Smith is limited as a play caller. It’s VERY clear.

This ain't no different than Mariota…ijs

Arthur Smith said when it comes to the seven sacks today that there were a few times that the Falcons "didn't even get the plays started" because the Lions were just beating them upfront.

We’re gonna have to have an uncomfortable conversation about Cordarrelle Patterson pretty soon

Arthur Smith told the best Olineman in the draft he was boring at his interview and then picked an rb at 8 that rushed for 33 yards today while his qb got sacked 6 times

Hoooo baby Tyler Allgeier 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
— Kyle Brandt (@KyleBrandt) September 24, 2023
Those of you focusing on Ridder clearly aren’t paying attention. There’s a much bigger issue here. You have Bijan, Allgeier, London, Pitts and Jonnu. The big fundamental issue is how they’re utilized and how games are called. Elite stars can bail you out, but not always.

If you actually look deeper into the #Falcons, you see that this current #Lions team is the next step in their evolution.
