The Atlanta Falcons have selected back-to-back defensive backs in the 2023 NFL draft, taking Alabama safety DeMarcco Hellams with pick No. 224 overall.
Hellams will join fellow rookie Clark Phillips III in the team’s new-look secondary led by Jessie Bates III. In 2022, Hellams led the Crimson Tide in tackles while lining up all over. While he played most of his snaps at the deep safety position, the Falcons should be able to utilize his versatility.
