Falcons coach was ‘bored’ by Peter Skoronski’s private combine interview

Player interviews at the NFL Scouting Combine take on all forms. Different teams have different approaches in what they ask draft prospects and how they handle the tone and direction of the meeting.

For Northwestern offensive lineman Peter Skoronski, his meeting at the combine with Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith elicited a very strange reaction.

Boredom.

In an excellent behind-the-scenes breakdown with The Athletic’s Dan Pompei, Skoronski revealed the unusual interaction he had with Smith in Indianapolis.

“The head coach (Smith) was on me the second I got in there,” Skoronski told Pompei. “I was giving them generic answers to their questions, and he said, ‘You’re really boring me right now. Your answers are so boring.’ The whole meeting, he kept looking at his computer. I was kind of laughing to myself and said, ‘Sorry, I don’t know what you want me to do. I’m answering you honestly.’”

It’s little surprise that Smith and the Falcons subsequently passed on selecting Skoronski with the No. 8 overall pick. Atlanta opted to go with exciting Texas RB Bijan Robinson. Skoronski didn’t wait long, coming off the board at No. 11 overall to the Tennessee Titans.
