The Atlanta Falcons parted ways with numerous assistant coaches on Wednesday, and it turns out defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is on his way out as well.
The New York Jets announced on Thursday that Ulbrich will be taking the role of defensive coordinator under the team’s new head coach, Robert Saleh.

Ulbrich was one of the few assistants many fans wanted to see stay in Atlanta under head coach Arthur Smith. Ulbrich had been with the Falcons as a linebackers coach since 2015 before being promoted to the co-defensive coordinator role with Raheem Morris midway through 2019.
In 2020, Ulbrich was named an assistant head coach and took over the defense when Morris was promoted to interim head coach in Week 6. Ulbrich’s hiring comes within an hour or Morris landing a defensive coordinator job with the Los Angeles Rams.
