During an at-home pamper session, 25-year-old Devon Birkett decided to apply a bit of fake tan, feeling that her pale skin was giving her the appearance of 'a ghost'.
Unfortunately, after slapping on a layer of St Moriz mousse in a Darker than Dark shade, the mental health support worker found that the effect was far scarier than any spook.
With her fake tan left to set, Devon, from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, cosied up to watch a murder documentary and only noticed something was wrong when - two hours later - she looked down at her by-then khaki-coloured feet.
Startled, Devon rushed to look in the mirror and quickly realised that her face, hands, arms, legs, and feet had turned a decidedly less than glamorous shade of ogre-green.

Her friends couldn't help but laugh after she video-called them, comparing her accidental new look to the titular character of the 2001 animated classic, Shrek.
Of course, this was absolutely not the look Devon was aiming for, and she couldn't jump in the shower quickly enough. Thankfully, she was able to hose herself off pretty well after a 20-minute scrub, resulting in a fairly "normal tan " with only the slightest "tinge of green" to it.
Devon said: "I'm naturally quite pale - like a ghost. I like to fake tan as it makes me feel more confident with it on, I like getting a bit of a golden glow. I go through stages of tanning, sometimes I won't tan for a little while but the majority of the time I'll tan once a week. I was going out the next day with friends and I wanted to look nice - instead, I ended up green."
Devon, who claims she followed her usual routine while using the still in date tan, including exfoliating and moisturizing, "was just in shock" and "couldn't believe it" when she first saw her reflection.
She recalled: "I videoed it to document it because I found it funny. I video-called a couple of my friends and they all found it hilarious as you can imagine. I've used it for years and it's never ever done that before. The more it was developing the greener and greener it was going".
St Moriz has since been contacted for comment.
