Fake Disney, MTV Game Show Accounts Show How Badly Twitter Blue Has Failed

There's wisdom in the old cliché 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it,' but conventional wisdom seems to be out the door at Twitter.

MTV game show The Challenge is so popular that is has a parody account on Twitter dedicated to fooling people into thinking its real. Apparently, the account spent the $1,000 a month it takes to get Twitter's new gold verified check mark.

But instead of posting quippy replays of the show, the account would post violent video content, according to a media report, before it was suspended

The Challenge isn't the only media entity dealing with parody accounts that have somehow been "verified" through Twitter's new verification system that requires users to sign up for Twitter Blue.

Disney Junior UK had an unaffiliated parody Twitter account that posted a tweet claiming that the Paramount show South Park would be moving to Disney, a tweet with a racial slur and a tweet profanity before Twitter also suspended that account, Deadline reported

Celebrities have taken to Twitter in recent days to let everyone know how much they don't care about losing their blue check marks, while fans of the new direction that the social media platform is taking have hailed the decision as a win for the common people.

In unrelated news, scientists have published numerous studies on the health benefits of exposure to sunlight and getting outdoors every once in a while.
