Fair City star Jenny Dixon accused of adding pressures to new mothers after attending wedding days after birth of twins

Fair City star Jenny Dixon has told how she was accused of adding pressure to new mothers after she attended a wedding just days after she welcomed twin girls.

The actress, and her husband Tom Neville, welcomed their daughter Bella and Capri in February and have been sharing their journey with fans on social media.

Jenny made a return to the red carpet on Friday night at the Platinum VIP Style Awards, but she admitted she put pressure on herself to look good for the cameras.

Speaking about online comments made to her since the arrival of her twin girls, she said: “I think I was on so much morphine that night, that is how I got to the wedding.

“There’s been some messages. 99 percent of them are lovely and some of them might say ‘oh this adds to mom pressure’ so I replied and said just be thankful for whatever body you’re in and really getting back in shape is just so aesthetical.

"When you’ve been through a lot, it doesn’t really matter in terms of shape and fitness. You’re just so grateful to have a baby or two, it doesn’t faze me at all. Everybody’s metabolism is different…. It doesn’t really matter.”

But Jenny admitted she put pressure on herself to slim down after having her babies, but said it helped as motivation.

“It’s not so much pressure from the industry, it’s more a personal thing but I would use that as motivation. If I had a photoshoot or an event on, I would say ok get my ass in the gym, be good and eat lots of rocket.

“I have a bit of fun with it. Any photoshoot or event, I just use that as motivation and then tomorrow I’ll be eating crisp sandwiches,” she said.

She praised having a husband like Tom to help her with their children – as she says motherhood has been “really happy and content”.

She added: “It’s lovely. It is just really happy and content.

“This time last year they weren’t here, and we dreamed they would be here and there’s not just one, there is two of them. It does feel very special.

“Tom is great, which helps. He’s a real hands-on dad. In terms of work, I’ve had some things where he has taken over and then vice versa so I think when you’ve got a good partner, it is half the battle in a way,” she added.
