Failsworth chippy voted Greater Manchester's best

Readers have voted Brobbins Crispy Cod in Failsworth as the best chippy in Manchester after we asked for their thoughts in our survey.

Almost 600 votes were cast in total with Brobbins, located on Wrigley Head just off the A62, taking just under 100 of them.

The top ranking chippy has strong local competition, with fellow Failsworth diners Foz's Fish Bar and Village Chippy taking third and fourth spots respectively.

Second place went to Hill's Fish and Chips on Oldham Road in Middleton, just six votes behind Brobbins, with North East Manchester putting in a strong performance for chippies.

Blackley also proved to be a hotbed for chippies with Pete's Chippy coming in at fifth, a few votes ahead of Bernies Fish and Chips just down the road in sixth.

Readers also shared their thoughts on what makes a good chippy, with high quality fish and tasty chips coming at as the top options.

Good gravy or curry, friendly staff and variety on the menu also came out as key things that people look for in their chippies.

The survey also threw out some honourable mentions for Hollins Fish Bar in Middleton, as well as a more central option with Tony's Chippy in Ancoats.
