A failing nursery has managed to turn it around in less than a year after it was rated inadequate by Ofsted and received a childcare complaint.
Welcome Nurseries on Stanley Road in Bootle was slated in a damning report from Ofsted that was published in October last year, with a complaint made at the end of November that claimed staff left the front door open to the nursey, resulting in an unauthorised person gaining entry to the building.
The published record of the complaint from Ofsted stated staff had been retrained following the breach, and now the nursery has pulled things back. In a recent Ofsted report, the government department has found the nursery is up to a good standard and said in the introduction to the report: "[Children] are supported by a relatively new, yet passionate, staff team who have worked very hard to significantly improve early years experiences for children.

"Children are greeted warmly by their key person and enthusiastically join in the activities provided. They behave well and form close bonds with all staff and each other. Staff have high expectations of what children can achieve. Children delight in responding to problems and challenges set by staff."
The progress made by the nursery was further underlined later in the report when the reporting officer made reference to comments made by parents. The report said: "Parents spoken to during the inspection are eager to praise the new manager and staff. They recognise the changes that have been made and appreciate the care staff give to their children.
"Parents remark upon the good progress that their children have made recently."
Cristina Pipos, manager of Welcome Nurseries on Stanley Road, told the ECHO : "It has been a pleasure working in the nursery and making all the changes. All staff worked really hard and put so much passion into building an amazing new environment for the children and creating learning opportunities, helping children thrive and be happy.
"We are so proud of what we have achieved. We are delighted with all the positive comments from parents and the support of the local authority."
