Nick Pope was given the opportunity the start in goal for England in the draw with Germany at Wembley with Jordan Pickford injured, but his error may have given the Everton stopper the upper hand when it comes to starting at the World Cup.
England fought back from 2-0 down in the second half to eventually take the lead with a Harry Kane penalty, but Pope's error gave Kai Havertz the chance to convert his second of the game and Germany's leveller.
Everton fans took to twitter to express their views on Pickford being "England's best goalkeeper" after the Newcastle number one failed to cover himself in glory.

One fan said he felt "sorry" for Pope after his error meant Germany were able to equalise: "Pickford is definitely going to be our keeper in the World Cup. Only other keeper who had a SLIGHT chance was Pope but he didn’t have a good performance. Feel sorry for him tbh."
Another fan was pleading for Pickford to be fit to line up in between the sticks for England at the World Cup: "Pickford please be available for the World Cup, not sure I can watch if we have Pope as number 1."
Pickford seems to have cemented his place in goal for England at another major tournament without even featuring in this international break.
"We learnt..Pickford is #1 pick in goal, Maguire still the liability we knew he was, Bellingham worth £200m soon at this rate, if you play ppl in positions they do well in for their clubs it helps (Saka) Toney was just in squad to teach pens in training,TAA must go to WC."
Pickford's place in the side shouldn't be "up for debate" according to this fan, who also shared his opinion on manager Gareth Southgate.
"Pickford as Englands number 1 isn’t even up for debate. Also, Southgate out."
