Facundo Pellistri 'offered' Manchester United exit route and more transfer rumours

Brazilian side Botafogo have reportedly made an approach to sign Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri on loan with an option to buy for a fixed fee.

According to a report from Globo Esporte, the Uruguayan - who arrived at Old Trafford from Penarol in the summer of 2020 - is a target for Botafogo. It adds that the Brazilian outfit made a formal offer for the 21-year-old on Tuesday and are now waiting on a response from the Reds, as well as the player.

The report claims that the Serie A side, who currently sit 11th in the table, want United to cover 50 per cent of his wages during the loan spell. Luis Castro's side reportedly view the 21-year-old as a 'great market opportunity'.

Pellistri made his first senior appearance for United in the Carabao Cup victory over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night. The attacker come off the bench for the final few minutes, but made an immediate impact with an assist for Marcus Rashford.

Elsewhere, journalist Keith Downie, speaking to Give Me Sport, admitted that Newcastle United were interested in a move for Reds midfielder Scott McTominay, with the Magpies having recently enquired about taking the midfielder on loan.

However, he stated that United were not keen on allowing the 26-year-old to leave Old Trafford. With Donny van de Beek currently sidelined with an injury, it appears unlikely that Erik ten Hag will let McTominay depart this month.

"The one thing they’ve got in common [McTominay, Tielemans and Caicedo] is they’ve all played in the Premier League. I think there was an enquiry made for McTominay recently, perhaps even on loan, but I don’t think Man United want to do it," Downie said.

McTominay has fallen down the pecking order following the summer arrival of Casemiro. The 26-year-old started six of United's opening seven Premier League games, but has not been named in the starting line-up for a top-flight clash since. The midfielder has made 191 appearances for the Reds since making his debut in 2017.
