Jailed in Liverpool: Faces of 75 people locked up this month

These are 75 people jailed in Merseyside this month.

Courts across our region heard a range of cases in January.

The stories the ECHO has covered include a TikTok star jailed for transphobic abuse, a 16-year-old who slashed a man with a chunk of glass and a stalker who terrorised a former Hollyoaks star.

A woman who tried to kill her best friend and a gang whose botched robbery left a man dead are also among the people sent to prison so far in 2022.

Here is an overview of some of the people who have been jailed so far this year.

Firefighter 'gutted' after opening his front door

A couple had their “pride and joy” taken from them after they woke to discover their motorhome had been stolen.

Kieran McGonigle, 62, is a former Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Watch Manager and served the people of Merseyside for 32 years.

After retiring six years ago, he chose to put his life savings towards buying him and his wife a motorhome to fulfil their dreams of travelling the world.

The couple has spent the last few years exploring their dream destinations before returning to their home in New Brighton, Wirral.

The motorhome, which was bought for around £60,000, is believed to have been taken between the hours of 10.30pm on Monday and 2pm on Tuesday.

Man 'knocks and falls at neighbours house with towel to his neck' after stabbing

A man reportedly "knocked and fell" at his neighbours door "with a towel to his neck" after a stabbing.

Police were called to a report of the stabbing at an address on Colbert Close in Upton, Wirral, at around 1.30am on January 30.

Emergency services attended and a man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries to his neck.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition, police said on Sunday.

A 32-year-old man from Upton was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside where he is currently in custody and being questioned by detectives.
