Faces of 17 people police want to speak to immediately

Police want to speak to these 17 people about recent crimes across Merseyside.

CCTV images have been released in a bid to help investigations into crimes committed in the region. The crimes range from a teenager stabbed in a street fight to a woman sexually assaulted in a shopping centre.

Merseyside police believe the people pictured in these appeals have information that could solve active cases. All appeals have been released in the last two months, however some crimes date back to March 2022.

Here we've rounded up some of Merseyside Police's most recent appeals.

Police are urging the public to come forward if they have any information about the people pictured. People are asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Suspicious McDonalds order alerts son to £800 worth of fraud

Police believe the man pictured above could help with their investigation into a string of illegal transactions, including a trip to McDonalds in Kirkdale.

A CCTV image has been released of a man Merseyside Police are looking to speak to after the son of an 83-year-old noticed more than 30 fraudulent transactions in a week in March which included a trip to McDonalds and in total, the offender spent more than £800 spent on shopping. The transactions have come after a bank card was stolen from an elderly woman in a Damfield Care Home in Maghull.

No members of staff at the care home are suspected of the crime. Inspector Edward Barr said: “This is a callous and despicable crime on a vulnerable woman who has dementia. The thief has brazenly used the stolen bank card more than 30 times – fraudulently obtaining more than £800 worth of goods."

Man suffers bleed on brain after being punched in Ruby Blues

A man suffered a bleed on the brain after being punched in a bar in the city centre. At around 9.30pm on Monday, May 7, a disturbance occurred at Ruby Blues bar on Great Charlotte Street. The victim, a man in his 30s, brushed past a man and a woman in the venue. He was then punched in the face.

A member of bar staff intervened and was then also assaulted. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man and a woman they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "This was a dangerous and unprovoked attack that left the victim seriously injured. Violence like this will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.

“The victim is still healing from the assault, which will no doubt have a lasting psychological impact. This incident took place when the bar was still busy with people, so if you were in the Ruby Blues bar at around 9.30pm on Monday, May 7 and saw the altercation or the events leading up to it, then please contact us.

"I am also appealing for people to come forward if you recognise the man and woman featured in these images. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”

Man forced his way into newsagents and stole cash from till

A man forced his way into a newsagents and stole cash from the till. Merseyside Police attended Bonney’s newsagents on Jubits Lane in Sutton, St Helens, after the shop was burgled on Friday, July 15.

It was reported a man forced entry to the shop at around 12.50am and stole a quantity of cash from the till. Detectives are now investigating the burglary and have released CCTV images of a man that they wish to speak to in connection with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “Business burglaries such as this are not a victimless crimes – they have a huge impact on the hardworking people who are just trying to earn a living in the heart of our communities. If you are the man pictured, or recognise him then please come forward.

“Similarly if you were in the Jubits Lane area in the early hours of the morning on Friday 15 July and saw anything or anyone suspicious then do let us know. All information you hold could be vital to our enquiries to bring the person responsible to justice.”

Woman followed and has sexual comments hurled at her

Merseyside Police has launched an appeal for information after a woman was followed by a man who repeatedly made sexual inappropriate comments to her. It was reported a woman was approached by a man as she walked alone on Mill Lane, close to Willow Road, in St Helens at around 6.35am on Tuesday, July 19.

The suspect is reported to have followed the woman for 15 minutes making sexual comments and only stopped after she said she was calling the police. The suspect then walked away in the direction of High Street passing The Kirkland Hotel.

Inspector Laura Leach said: "Thankfully this woman managed to walk away from a man who continued to follow her and make such inappropriate comments but she was still left distressed by the ordeal. Nobody should be subjected to such disgraceful behaviour in our community and we are working hard to ensure that the person responsible is identified.

"We think the man pictured may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you know him, please come forward. If you recognise him, or this image jogs your memory about any suspicious behaviour you may have seen on Mill Lane or the surrounding area then please do let us know."

Man wanted as woman reports sexual assault on pub dance floor

A woman alleges that at around 10.15pm, on Monday, July 28, she was touched inappropriately on the dance floor of Tess Riley's, on Great Charlotte Street. She told pub staff who then kicked the man out of the venue.

Witnesses say the suspect then walked away, towards St John's shopping centre. Detectives investigating the incident have now issued a CCTV photograph of someone they wish to trace.

They believe the man pictured could assist in their investigation. Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: "This was a disgraceful attack on a woman, and I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare. The victim is very shaken and understandably very distressed by this ordeal.

"We are taking this incident extremely seriously and I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries."

CCTV released in hunt for pub beer garden attacker

Police are looking to trace a man over an attack in a pub beer garden on the night of the Champions League Final. Officers have released CCTV images of a man who they'd like to speak to after the assault in the marquee area of the Dovedale Towers pub, on Penny Lane.

The incident happened at around 10.20pm on Saturday, May 28, after Liverpool were beaten by Real Madrid in the match. The victim was hit in the face by another man and then attacked. He needed hospital treatment for his injuries and was left very distressed, according to officers.

The suspect allegedly left the scene soon after the incident. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Pervert who groped woman outside shopping centre

Police are hunting a man captured on CCTV after a woman was sexually assaulted outside St Johns shopping centre.

The victim reported that she was stood outside the shopping centre, on Houghton Road, at around 3.10pm on Friday, June 10, when a man touched her inappropriately. The suspect then ran away towards Williamson Square.

Detectives at Merseyside Police have now published a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault. Police believe the man may have information that could help with their investigation.

Teen stabbed in street brawl

Merseyside Police are looking for two males after a teen was stabbed on Smithdown Road in Toxteth (Merseyside Police)

A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the leg during a fight involving a group of men. Merseyside Police were called to Smithdown Road, Toxteth at around 4.35pm on Wednesday, June 29 after reports a man had been stabbed.

The victim was rushed to hospital in a serious, but not life-threatening condition. He has since been released. An investigation remains ongoing and officers have been carrying out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries. Detectives investigating the stabbing have now released a CCTV image of two males who they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We are keen to trace these two males as we believe they could have information which is vital to our enquiries. We believe the two males are in company with each other. I would ask anyone who recognises either of the males, or has any information about the incident to contact us as matter of urgency.”

Homophobic street attack as man suffers cuts from weapon

A man was hit over the head in a homophobic attack in Wavertree. Police were called to the junction of Smithdown Road and Whittier Street to reports of a man in distress, at around 12.25am on Sunday, June 12. At the scene they found a man, in his 30s, had a cut to his head from being assaulted with a weapon.

The victim said that during the attack he was also subjected to homophobic abuse. Officers have released images of a person they now want to speak to.

Detectives believe the person pictured, in a white and black coat with their hood up, may have information about the assault. CCTV and witness enquiries have been ongoing and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.

Thieves distract woman, 90, in Asda to steal her purse

On Saturday, June 18, a purse belonging to the 90-year-old woman was taken from a trolley in Asda. At around 9am a man approached the woman and distracted her by asking about some items in the shop.

Another man then went into her bag and took her purse containing a quantity of cash. Detective Inspector Lisa Milligan said: “We are very keen to speak to the two men pictured, as we believe they could have vital information about this incident that would help our enquiries.

“This was a despicable offence targeting an elderly woman in her local supermarket, somewhere she needed to go to buy essentials and where she should feel safe. We continue to ask the community to take sensible precautions when they are out and about - take extra care to zip handbags, purses and pockets and split up cash in different parts of your handbag or clothing.

“Supermarket staff should also be extra vigilant, and I would also ask neighbours and family members to pass this advice on to elderly or vulnerable people.”

Teenagers slashed and racially abused by stranger in the street

Two teenagers were racially abused and then slashed by a stranger in a violent hate crime.

The victims, aged 17 and 18, were on Fell Street in Kensington, at around 8pm on Monday, June 27, when a stranger approached them and started to shout racial abuse at them. One of the teens shouted back and the suspect then slashed him in the neck with a knife.

The second teenager rushed to help his friend and was also slashed in the arm. Both victims required hospital treatment for their injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening.

Merseyside police believe the suspect then ran off in the direction of Holt Road. Officers are treating the incident as a hate crime.

Thug crushed teen's sunglasses and threatened him with a knife

A teenage boy was assaulted and threatened with a knife in a "violent and unprovoked" attack in Liverpool city centre.

It was reported a man approached the 16-year-old boy in Lord Street, and first removed his sunglasses from his face and stood on them. The man then threatened the victim with a knife and as the victim walked away, he punched him to the face.

The teenager ran towards Whitechapel and Church Street where he was assaulted by a group of men on bikes. As officers arrived at the scene, the group rode and ran away from the area. The assault happened at around 8pm on Saturday, March 26.

Man steals 'large amount of alcohol' from social club

A man stole a "large amount of alcohol" after breaking into a social club.

At around 5.15am on Tuesday, June 7, police received a report of a burglary at Garston Woodcutters Social club on Chesterton Road. It was reported that a till containing a small amount of cash and a large amount of alcohol was stolen from the premises.

Following CCTV enquiries, officers have issued images of a man that they wish to speak to in connection with their enquiries. Inspector Paul Rannard said: "Business burglaries such as this are not a victimless crimes – they have a huge impact on the hardworking people who are just trying to earn a living in the heart of our communities."
