Meta Platforms (META) has announced that it plans to join companies like Snap Inc. (SNAP) and Match Group's (MTCH) OkCupid in utilizing new generative AI technology.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the company’s venture into the new technology on Monday in a Facebook post, where he also illuminated possible applications for the new must-have technology.

Zuckerberg has big AI plans for the future, near and far.
"We're creating a new top-level product group at Meta focused on generative AI to turbocharge our work in this area," he writes. "We're starting by pulling together a lot of the teams working on generative AI across the company into one group focused on building delightful experiences around this technology[.]"
Per the message, Meta may soon be using a chatbot for services like WhatsApp and Messenger. Instagram users may be looking at a future of AI-generated filters or ad overlays. Zuckerberg also mentions exploring AI in "video and multi-modal experiences," but does not specifically mention its use in the Metaverse.
"In the short term, we'll focus on building creative and expressive tools," he wrote. "Over the longer term, we'll focus on developing AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways."

The CEO admits that the company has "a lot of foundational work to do before getting to the really futuristic experiences." But the post assures followers that the company is really enthusiastic about the idea.
