Facebook users in the UK have been reporting issues on Wednesday morning as their homepage has not been showing regular posts while trying to browse the app. Instead it has only been showing posts from celebrity and brand pages.
Reports of problems started to flood Down Detector around 6:30am. The website, which tracks outages, shows that nearly 3,000 people have reported a problem this morning. 80% of users reported an issue with the feed, 15% with the app and the remaining 5% complained about the website.
Facebook users have switched over to its rival Twitter to find out if they've been hacked. One user @AgentDowling tweeted: "What the hell is going on with Facebook at this very moment in time. #FacebookHacked"

While another user @OwenJ_McGrath tweeted: "My Facebook is also acting strange. I thought I was hacked."
A third user did not feel comfortable keeping their account active and went as far as deleting the app. @DeeeShow shared: "Facebook is freaking out and my feed is full of people's posts on celebrities . So I deleted the app , think I'll just leave it deleted #facebookhacked #facebookdown"
What has Facebook said?
Facebook have not made any official comments on the issue. According to many of its users, the homepage isn't showing posts from family and friends, but instead it's showing random posts on celebrity pages. Any videos published on the feed are also not playable.
If someone decides to post something on a celebrity's page, everyone following that celebrity sees the post. Anyone who checks their Facebook feed now will notice it is looking like the spam folder in your email. Some Facebook users can be seen spamming their favourite celebrity's page with all sorts of messages.
At the time of writing we assume it's a bug with the algorithm rather than hacking. Whilst we wait for an update from Facebook, you can check on Down Detector for any progress.
