Police have released an image of a prolific shoplifter with 49 convictions to his name who stole meat, booze and chocolates from his local Morrisons. Adam Glasby, 46, of High Street in Mansfield Woodhouse, was jailed for a total of 11 months for four admitted charges of theft at his local shop, and for breaching two suspended prison sentences.
Nottingham Crown Court heard on Wednesday, August 17, that Glasby wanted to go to prison. Nottinghamshire Police has now released an image of him as the force pledges to crack down on shoplifting.
Police Constable Laura Marriott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This conviction is the result of excellent and persistent work by community officers. Retail crime can often be seen as a victimless crime. However, this couldn't be further from the truth."

The punishment comes after Glasby pinched eight packets of British sirloin steak, worth £28, from the High Street Morrisons. He placed the packets in his basket, then hid them inside his jacket, and paid for biscuits at the self-service check-out. After not coughing up for the steaks, he left without paying.
But he was identified as the culprit by the store security guard, who has had numerous dealings with him over the years. Glasby struck again on August 30 when he selected three packets of meat from the same Morrisons and concealed them in his jacket.
Then, on October 13 last year, he helped himself to ten tubs of Quality Street chocolates worth £39.90 and left without paying. He returned the same day for eight more tubs of Quality Street.
The offences left him in breach of three offences of shoplifting from Morrisons, three of possession weapons, three public order offences, all met with a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years. He breached a second suspended sentence order of nine months, suspended for 21 months, for burglary at Oakwood Pharmacy, Church Street, Mansfield, where he stole a handbag from the staff room.
His convictions include 20 offences for shoplifting, four for dwelling burglary and 12 for non-dwelling burglary. Sentencing him, Judge Rupert Mayo imposed a three-year criminal behaviour order not to go to that branch of Morrisons and from going to Aldi in Mansfield.
Police Constable Laura Marriott added: "When shop staff or security staff are subjected to threats or assaults, they are left living in fear both inside and outside of the workplace. Thanks to the tireless work being conducted by our teams, Glasby is behind bars, which is a great result and I hope will offer reassurance to businesses in the area that we will not tolerate this behaviour.
"We will continue to work closely with partners and residents, as we have done successfully in the past, to ensure that prolific shoplifters like him are serving prison sentences."
