This is the face of callous mugger John Ward who snatched a 78-year-old pensioner's wallet as he sat on a bench in a busy shopping area. Nottinghamshire Police released Ward's mugshot today (Friday, January 20) after he was jailed for 35 months after pleading guilty to robbery.
Ward, 41, of Victoria Street, Ironville, got out of a car in Bracebridge Drive, Bilborough, and snatched the man's wallet from his hands - it contained £450. Despite mobility issues and arthritis, the pensioner bravely tried to chase after Ward who escaped in the waiting car but was arrested later.
CCTV of the shocking incident, in broad daylight, was played in court as Ward was sentenced on Thursday (January 19). The victim is now too afraid to leave his house. Read the full story here
