People in West Lothian visiting places of worship or attending weddings and funerals will no longer have to wear masks from today.
People will however still have wear face masks on public transport as a legal requirement and this will be phased out in two weeks.
These requirements - which still apply to shops, public transport and hospitality - will be converted to guidance on April 18.
The moves comes as West Lothian's seven-day positivity rate dropped again this week by 11.6 per cent, with 2537 new cases reported in the last seven days.
Around Scotland, however around one in 12 people had covid last week and the number in hospital with the virus was at a record high.
Last week the First Minister said Government would continued to encourage the wearing of face coverings in certain indoor places "especially where significant numbers of people are present".
She said last week Mthe phased approach struck a "sensible balance between our desire to remove this one remaining legal measure and the common sense need for continued caution".
