Fabrizio Romano in huge Postecoglou to Spurs update as Celtic handed ray of hope

Tottenham Hotspur chiefs have reportedly scheduled a round of talks with Ange Postecoglou for early next week.

The Celtic boss emerged as the preferred candidate for the role earlier this week.

Reports on Thursday claimed Celtic chiefs were resigned to losing Postecoglou with a new manager search beginning.

However, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has offered a ray of hope to Celtic supporters desperate for Postecoglou to remain at Parkhead.

The journalist claims new talks have been scheduled for next week with Postecoglou the "leading candidate", however, nothing has been agreed.

Romano went on to claim that Luis Enrique has also been discussed again internally at Spurs as a possible candidate.

The former Barcelona and Spain boss is reportedly still in contention despite Postecoglou leading the race for the position.

Romano tweeted: "Tottenham have scheduled new round of talks with Ange Postecoglou at the beginning if next week — he remains leading candidate.

"Nothing done/agreed yet as Spurs also discussed Luis Enrique again internally this week."

On the Spurs speculation, Postecoglou said: “It’s of interest to people and that’s understandable, but it’s just not in my world.

"It’s not the first time it has happened this year and I have been pretty consistent in making people understand what I am about and what I am like.

"I’ve got too big a game on Saturday for this football club to be contemplating any matter other than us being ready for Saturday.

"Within here there is no talk about it. I get it there is more in your work space. You think, ‘jeez, it’s everywhere.’

"In here we are talking about Saturday and talking about being ready and training and making sure we have an opportunity to do something special in terms of our season.

"It doesn’t penetrate. It’s not as distracting as people may think it is. Obviously I have to address questions from the outside, but internally it’s not like people are walking around thinking about anything other than being ready for Saturday."
