Fabrizio Romano confirms ex-Rangers prospect in long-term Anderlecht deal

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Robbie Ure has signed a three-year deal at Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht.

Ure, a product of the Rangers youth academy, made his professional senior side debut aged 19 in a Scottish League Cup encounter with Queen of the South on August 30, 2022, and scored his first professional goal after just 10 minutes on the pitch.

Under then manager Michael Beale, the forward struggled for consistent opportunities and ultimately rejected a contract extension in the summer of 2023 – having last signed a two-year extension in 2021.

Ure then swapped Ibrox for the RSCA Futures side – the comprehensive youth initiative of Anderlecht.

The RSCA Futures is its parent club's most senior outfit, ostensibly acting as Anderlecht's reserve team, who compete in the Challenger Pro League, Belgian football's second flight.

"2004 born striker Robbie Ure has agreed a new three year deal at Anderlecht," reads Romano's post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

"It will be completed this week after he’s signed from Rangers last season and had a breakthrough season making his first team debut."

Elsewhere among Rangers' current crop of younger stars, Robbie Fraser vowed to impress in the wake of his recent contract extension

Fraser said: "I have worked as hard as I could here for 14 years and was ready for that moment. You need to be on it 365 days a year here. It’s non-stop and you have to give everything you can to earn the chance.

"I love working hard, I love giving everything I have because it make the rewards even sweeter. I don’t want anything just given to me, I want to earn it. That will never change for me so here’s hoping I can have a good future here.

"Signing the new contract gives me peace of mind and it was a massive moment for me. Earning myself a new contract shows I’ve been doing really well and the manager and his staff have seen that. Hopefully I can kick on now and really enjoy the season ahead."
