Tom Browning: "Please can you debunk the James rumours?"
Alasdair says: "There's a little bit of interest there. Fabio Paratici likes the Leeds winger among many others, but Tottenham have not taken it past that point of consideration with no discussions held between the clubs about the former Manchester United winger, who only joined Leeds last summer. With Conte talking about how he likes to turn wingers into wing-backs, perhaps that's an option that has been spoken about behind the doors at Hotspur Way.
"For me a move for the Wales international would seem on paper to be a strange one as James would likely get less football at Tottenham than he would at Leeds and would also not be considered homegrown in the club's already overstuffed Champions League squad.
"UEFA considers players to be homegrown or 'locally trained' if they were trained by the club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21. James moved to Swansea at the age of 16 and the Welsh club and Cardiff are not considered as part of the English national association despite competing in the English game, which is why Ben Davies and Joe Rodon, currently on loan at Rennes, are not considered locally trained for Spurs. Eric Dier and Matt Doherty also fall into the same category due to their formative years being spent in Portugal and Ireland."

Jay: "Why is there so much doubt about signing Adama Traore, at least on loan seeing as Gil seems destined for a loan spell to Valencia? Especially seeing as his crossing talents have improved a great deal, judging by his cameo performance against us last Saturday?"
Alasdair says: "I think the doubts are probably because of that near complete lack of end product. There isn't much of it for all of his skill, pace and power. He has only managed 16 assists in 162 Premier League games and just eight goals. Dejan Kulusevski has almost reached that in just 21 matches. Traore's loan to Barcelona started well in the opening couple of games and then fell of a cliff somewhat.
"Fabio Paratici likes him though - I saw him watching him and the Wolves subs a fair bit during the warm-up on Saturday - and perhaps Conte believes he can turn him into a wing-back. As his price creeps further and further down I can see him being a cheap option but I can't see him getting as much game time as he'd want."
thespursecho: "Is Japhet Tanganga close to joining Milan?"
Alasdair says: "AC Milan and Nottingham Forest are among the clubs who have been looking to take Tanganga off Tottenham's hands and I understand the former England U21 defender's number one choice is the Serie A giants.
"Advanced talks have been held between Spurs and Milan over a move for Tanganga, but the stumbling block is understood to have been that the Italian side are willing to include an option to sign the centre-back but Tottenham want an obligation for the Serie A side to purchase him for €25million (£21million).
"The question now in the remaining days of the transfer window is which of the two clubs relents and if Tanganga does move then Tottenham need to sign a new centre-back to replace him as per Antonio Conte's very clear and public instructions."
Mashy83: "Have you heard of any other potential attacking options if we get priced out of a move for Anthony Gordon? Seems expensive for someone who had an alright last season and isn’t a full international."
Alasdair says: "As I mentioned above, I wouldn't be shocked if Spurs are keeping a close eye on the Adama Traore situation with regards to a late move if Bryan Gil heads off on loan. I don't think you could get more different in terms of size and strength than those two players! Personally I think Gil will become the better player but Paratici does love Traore.
"I agree on Gordon's price rising too much now. He's a talented young player and he could become a star but even some Everton fans are now starting to think the money is enough to take because it's way over the odds. Spurs really like him but I can't see how they could justify spending that sort of money on him at the stage in his career."
bcoplin24: "I know this is quite a way out, but do you see Spurs making any acquisitions in the January transfer window? I’m mainly thinking centre-back here, since we have had trouble finding a permanent solution to this position this summer."
Alasdair says: "It very much depends on what happens in this final week or so of the window and then what happens in the World Cup, whether players get injured or want to leave. You can't really predict the January transfer window until this window finishes."
Ghostofbale: "Could you see Son being benched as his performance has been sub-par?"
Alasdair says: "I'd be very surprised while it's one game a week. The moment you doubt Son is normally when he roars back to life and makes you look daft. I think he will be rested from time to time when there's three games a week in order to keep him fresher. Right now, I think he just needs to rediscover his groove. It'll happen."
Frankheth23: "I recently listened to your podcast with Rob Guesty and the episode where you got to played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. My question is that if you played for Antonio Conte’s side, what position do you think you could put a shift in?"
Alasdair says: "I'd have to take on the central striker role, I know where the goal is and my hold-up play isn't bad, although I'd clearly have to get a lot, lot, lot, lot fitter. Guesty I can see either as one of the front three or taking on the box to box midfielder role. He will dine off that beautiful lobbed goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium forever, while I'll instead be haunted by my header from a corner that flashed just wide."
Sanskar1: "Is Harry Winks staying? I haven't heard any news or links about him and the window shuts soon."
Alasdair says: "I wouldn't be shocked if he's a late departure but he's not in Conte's plans so he will have to move for his sake and Spurs'. Clubs need homegrown players and he's good enough for most Premier League sides and those abroad. I'd imagine a few are waiting until Tottenham are getting a bit desperate."
Jprof99: "If Real Madrid's supposed interest in Hojbjerg materialised into a bid, would we consider a sale? I know I’m probably in the minority but I feel with the money we’d get for him we could bring in someone on another level."
Alasdair says: "It would depend on the amount. I think people overlook what Hojbjerg brings to the side sometimes because he's not the silkiest player compared to others. Spurs don't have many leaders and the Dane certainly is one, he's got a winning mentality and his contribution often goes unnoticed. That Real Madrid are reportedly interested speaks volumes as well."
calebks: "Are you worried about how well Arsenal are doing? They seem closer to City and Liverpool at the moment then we are."
Alasdair says: "I think Arsenal look good. Gabriel Jesus is a striker who fits them and what they and he needed perfectly. I wouldn't say they've been hugely tested yet, but you can only beat what's in front of you and that north London derby in October could be an absolute cracker. Spurs are winning games without hitting their top gear, which is no bad thing either. We've even seen Liverpool and City struggle to do that in recent weeks."
chrism12: "What are your thoughts on the Saint-Maximin/Traore rumours? I can't help but feel either one would be a great addition as we don't have anyone with X-factor pace in the squad."
Alasdair says: "I think Allan Saint-Maximin be a terrific addition but he's looking pretty important for Newcastle right now. Fabio Paratici really likes him and Traore. The Wolves man would be the far cheaper option due to his contract situation."
kwame: "If Gianni Vio is drilling players on set plays on offense, why can't he then help them with defending them. I hear people say he is not involved on defensive side, but seems logical he should be."
Alasdair says: "He's an attacking set piece coach. That's his job. He's designed 4,830 different attacking set piece scenarios and he fits them around the players he's got to work with. You don't bring him in and then try to get him working on an area that's not his expertise."
