Fabio Paratici: Tottenham wait goes on as appeal hearing goes into second day

Tottenham and Fabio Paratici have been made to wait on the outcome of his appeal against a two-and-a-half year ban from football after no decision was reached on Wednesday.

Juventus and a number of their former directors, including Paratici, have appealed against sanctions handed down by an Italian court in January for false accounting, and their case was heard by the Italian Olympic Committee on Wednesday.

A final decision could take up to five days and the court was adjourned until Thursday following deliberations, with no verdict reached.

Paratici, Spurs’ managing director of football, was put on leave by the club after his 30-month suspension from working in Italy football was unexpectedly extended by FIFA to the rest of the world at the end of March.

He was initially banned from working only in his home country in January, while his former club Juve, where he worked as an executive for 11 years, were docked 15 points and a number of other directors handed suspensions.

The Italian Olympic Committee have no power to overturn or alter the ban, only to send the original case back to court, which could lead to a retrial in May.

Spurs, who are currently searching for a new permanent manager, have been left in a state of limbo while the situation drags on.

Paratici is also facing a separate investigation by UEFA, the European governing body, while another case over Juve secretly making salary payments to a number of players while he was at the club is also hanging over him.

Spurs have said they will consider the outcome of Paratici’s appeal before deciding on their next move.
