Fabio Paratici's transfer to-do list with Anthony Gordon, Richarlison, Zabarnyi, Spence and more

Fabio Paratici has already landed three new players for Tottenham Hotspur this summer but he still has plenty to do in a busy transfer window for the club.

Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have all put pen to paper before the start of Antonio Conte's pre-season and the Spurs head coach wants more reinforcements through the door to build a strong squad able to handle the rigours of the Premier League, Champions League and the domestic cup competitions.

Paratici has been splitting his time between Hotspur Way for three days a week and his Turin base in Italy for the other four days and we've taken a look at what will still be on the to-do list, in no particular order, for Tottenham's managing director in the weeks ahead.

Sign an attacker or two

This category could potentially fall into two parts depending on the attacking midfielder that Spurs do bring in. With Steven Bergwijn heading off, Conte needs a replacement to ensure he has two players for each position but he also needs a striker to provide that same rotation for Harry Kane in his squad list.

That is why Richarlison ticks plenty of boxes for Tottenham because the 25-year-old Brazilian can play anywhere across the frontline and scored goals as a lone striker for Everton during Dominic Calvert-Lewin's absence last season and at times after his return. Paratici is a fan of the Brazil international and his arrival could potentially save Spurs from having to spend on a striker as well, with Perisic also able to cover the left flank as another option with Son and Richarlison.

Everton's financial issues and Richarlison being represented by CAA Base, an agency with close ties to Tottenham, could help the north London club's cause if they turn that interest into a firm bid.

Spurs must also keep a close eye on their homegrown numbers in the wake of Dele Alli and Cameron Carter-Vickers' departure and Harry Winks' expected exit and they have looked at Richarlison's Everton team-mate Anthony Gordon as a potential addition this summer.

The talented 21-year-old can play on either flank and Tottenham are considering launching a double swoop for both Toffees attackers in order to bolster Conte's options, although whether Everton would consider letting both wingers go is another thing with the likely anger from their supporters.

Spurs like another Brazilian in Leeds winger Raphinha, who plays predominantly on the right, and have looked at other Premier League attacking midfielders in Newcastle United's Allan Saint-Maximin and long-time Paratici target Wolves winger Adama Traore as well as stars abroad such as Lyon attacker Lucas Paqueta and Roma's Nicolo Zaniolo, who has been on Tottenham's radar for a number of years around his injury problems.

If he were to sign any of the above, other than Richarlison, Paratici would then still have to sign another striker to bolster Conte's forward options. The striker choice is the same as it has always been for Spurs - either sign a top drawer star who starts almost every match alongside Kane or find someone willing to play more of a rotation role in cup matches and when the England captain needs to be rested. The other issue for a newcomer is that if Conte were to switch to a 3-5-2 the front two is likely to be Kane and Son.

The head coach is trying to rid the idea of a set starting XI and instead bring in the big club mentality of a squad of players all of similar levels and constant rotation not affecting the level of play. However, some incoming big players can't help but be put off by seeing those two star names in Kane and Son as competition unless they are versatile enough to play out wide as well.

Paratici needs to do a better job than Spurs have in the past of signing a striker, with the club's previous efforts mixed in their success rate.

Give Conte a couple of centre-backs

Another double job for Paratici because Conte is understood to want a couple of new defenders, with the expectation that Joe Rodon will head off either on loan or permanently.

A left-sided centre-back is the priority with Ben Davies the sole man in that position at the moment. The top two players on Spurs' wishlist for that position - RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol and Inter's Alessandro Bastoni - are the most difficult to prise away right now for various reasons and both are happy at their clubs.

The next name of interest would be Villarreal's Pau Torres. The Spaniard turned down a move to Tottenham last summer, but the north London club are a different proposition this year with Conte at the helm and Champions League football to offer while Barcelona's Clement Lenglet, who turned down a loan move to Spurs last summer, is another option for the left and centrally and is believed to be available on loan again.

Among other names on the left, Spurs have scouted young Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile in the past with the French club in turn having shown an interest in Davinson Sanchez.

In terms of centre-backs for the other positions in the back three, Torino's Gleison Bremer and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi have been considered among other players, while football.london reported earlier this month that Spurs are weighing up a summer move for 19-year-old Ukraine international centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi.

Conte wants plenty of options in his backline as he juggles multiple competitions and Paratici must deliver a couple of key building blocks for that defence.

Secure a right wing-back

Once again with the homegrown theme, Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder expects Spurs to complete a deal for 21-year-old right wing-back Djed Spence.

"From my point of view, negotiations between Kieran (Scott), Neil (Bausor), Steve (Gibson) and Tottenham stay between Kieran, Neil, Steve and Tottenham. If the deal doesn't get done, we'll see where we go from there. Have I got input into it? Yeah, 100 per cent. The boy obviously doesn't want to come back here, which I've got absolutely no issue with. He obviously sees his future away from here, and he had a brilliant season last season," Wilder was quoted as saying in The Northern Echo on Saturday.

"We're expecting that deal to happen, but if it doesn't, then he's our player. From a club point of view, the deal has to be right. We're not trying to stand in the way of anybody. I've never done that as a manager, and I've had plenty of situations before where opportunities have come along to players.

"But there's always three parties involved in any deal, and it's got to be right for all three parties for it to happen. It's got to be right for the player, and obviously, from the noises, it sounds as though [Spurs] is where he wants to go. Tottenham want him, and we're prepared for that, but it's got to be right for us too. It all needs to marry up."

Some reports state Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is in charge of this transfer due to his past dealings with Middlesbrough but Paratici has certainly scouted Spence in the past and will have weighed in with his input and spoken to the players' representatives.

The expectation within Boro is that the two clubs will eventually agree a figure for the England U21 international, but Paratici will have other targets up his sleeve if they do not.

Get players out the door

One criticism from some in the Italian media during Paratici's time at Juventus was a perception that at times he struggled to offload players. Tottenham need to get some players out of the door this summer, to further bolster their transfer coffers and prevent Conte from having a bloated squad with unhappy players in some departments.

Paratici is looking for buyers for the club's two most expensive ever signings in Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, with more interest in the latter in both Spain and France after a good loan spell at Villarreal whereas Ndombele's time back at Lyon was less successful and the French club did not activate the option to purchase him.

Everton continue to try to sign Harry Winks but their financial fair play problems mean they want a loan move whereas Spurs want around £20million for the 26-year-old England international. A loan with an option to buy could end up being the chosen path as all parties are keen for the move to happen.

Ajax are yet to meet Spurs' valuation of Steven Bergwijn but that move is expected to go through in the coming weeks with the player wanting the move. Spurs will also listen to offers for both Sergio Reguilon and Emerson Royal, although neither player is believed to be keen to leave the club. Despite Conte's fondness for Davinson Sanchez, Tottenham are expected to consider serious approaches for the Colombian, who has two years left on his contract and has admirers at Monaco.

Then there are those who could head out on loan or permanently depending on the offer. Joe Rodon falls into that category with a number of clubs interested in the 24-year-old Wales international while a 21-year-old signing from last summer, Bryan Gil, is another talented young player likely to depart the club, with a string of admirers across Europe.

Japhet Tanganga has now fully recovered following his knee surgery in March and Conte and Paratici will have to decide whether the 23-year-old's versatility makes him difficult to lose if offers do arrive for him. Other young players expected to head out on loan include talented teenagers Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine, who are currently impressing for England at the European U19 Championships. Conte will also make a decision on whether another signing from last summer, 19-year-old Pape Matar Sarr, needs to go back out on loan, with the Senegal international having signed from Metz last summer and remained there for the season.

Integrate his new staff

It's not just on the pitch where new faces will be part of Paratici's remit. On his to-do list will be to integrate his new appointments behind the scenes in his freshly put together recruitment team.

Gretar Steinsson is to join Spurs as performance director, along with Andy Scoulding as his assistant, with both highly-rated recruitment specialists taking on remits across both the first team and academy.

Former Bolton defender Steinsson, 40, will start work this Friday. He was the head of recruitment and development for three years at Everton, having been technical director of Fleetwood Town for four years before that. Highly-respected Scoulding, also 40, will join from Scottish side Rangers where he was head of scouting for four years, following previous positions the London-born specialist had with the FA, Salford City, Olympiacos and Valencia. He will begin work a little later this summer.

Focused on the link with the youth set-up and academy manager Dean Rastrick will be 48-year-old former Manchester City and Anderlecht coach Simon Davies, who also starts work this Friday with the reported title of head of methodology, ensuring a closer synergy between the first team and academy levels.

Burned by the failure of a string of recent transfers, particularly those two expensive Ndombele and Lo Celso purchases, Paratici will be looking to improve the club's recruitment processes from top to bottom and getting his new team in place and working in sync from the off.
