Former Colombia head coach Arturo Reyes has heaped praise on Tottenham target Luis Diaz in the past, in a statement that suggests he will be a strong acquisition for Spurs.
Reporter Kaveh Solhekol has told Sky Sports that Tottenham are not far away from agreeing a fee with Porto for the Colombian star.
The winger emerged as a surprise target for Tottenham earlier this week with SIC Noticias stating that Spurs had made a bid - believed to be in the region of £37m with £9m in add-ons - for his services.
Diaz has scored 16 goals and added six assists in 28 games this season as he's shown exactly why Spurs are interested in him.
And in a statement that strongly suggests Tottenham are right to be looking at a player like Diaz, Reyes has previously likened his talents to that of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. Plus, he admitted that it's rare to find a player who has so much ability.
“A player like Lucho [Diaz], with the qualities he has, can play for any team. It’s not easy to find players like him," he told O Jugo, via football transfers.
“There are things similar to Sancho. Both have fun on the field, they don’t feel pressure and they play the same way in any side."
However, Fabio Paratici will have his work cut out for him, if reports coming out of Portugal are to be believed.
He's expected to reject any contract offers from Tottenham in order to wait for Liverpool to come calling, according to Portuguese outlet Record, via the Express.
It's claimed that Diaz isn't tempted by the prospect of playing for Spurs and would rather secure a move to Anfield if the opportunity presents itself.
He reportedly sees Liverpool as 'on another level' to Tottenham and believes they would offer a better project than their Premier League rivals.
That would be a huge blow to Tottenham and Conte if true, but Paratici can only try to defeat the odds, and if he does, Spurs will be better for it.
