Fabio Carvalho hails Liverpool fans' impact after dramatic Newcastle United winner

Fabio Carvalho scored the match-winning goal in the 98th minute on the day after his 20th birthday to secure a huge comeback victory for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds were on the front foot for the majority of the game, but were unable to create much in the way of chances, even after falling behind to Alexander Isak's well taken first-half finish.

Liverpool would get their equaliser with Roberto Firmino's first time shot from Mo Salah's pass, but it looked like they would have to settle for a point.

But in the 98th minute, the ball fell to Carvalho at the back post, who was able to smash home from a tough angle to secure a huge win.

Speaking after the game, Carvalho stated how much the Anfield supporters played an impact on the win and how he hopes to kick on, having scored in two consecutive games.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said: "Hopefully we can build on this, hopefully we can build on the result today. Many more to come, we need to keep going, keep working and more wins will come.

"That’s what they were doing today, it’s a bit frustrating at times with their players going down. Lets not talk about them, let’s talk about us, how good we were, how good we stuck to the game plan which is to keep going, playing our way and got the deserved win.

"To be fair, in our DNA we just keep going and we showed that today through the fans. They helped us so much and I just want to say thank you to them because without them this wouldn’t be possible. We stuck to the game plan, kept pushing and finally got the goal and well deserved three points.

"I was just there in the right area and happily it fell for me. Look at this, what else do you expect? They kept us going and it’s just amazing to be here."
