Arsenal have been sent a blunt warning ahead of the clash against Liverpool as they look to stay top of the Premier League.
The Gunners have lost just once in their last 10 matches in all competitions and come into the game against the Reds full of confidence. Jurgen Klopp's side have struggled immensely this season and look a shadow of their former selves, languishing down in 10th-place in the table.
Mikel Arteta has called for his team to show just how far they've come by picking up a win against Liverpool, something they haven't managed to do in their last six meetings. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has praised his former colleague for the work he is doing at Arsenal and highlighted just how important it is to stay top of the table ahead of the 2022 World Cup in November.

Despite their poor start to the season, Liverpool star Fabinho believes the Reds are 'still one of the best' teams in the Premier League and are ready to cause an upset at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. The Brazilian midfielder told Liverpoolfc.com: "(The) Emirates is a nice place to play and Arsenal, of course, are in a really good moment right now, playing really well, winning their games, top of the league.
“It’s a good opportunity for us as well to show that we are Liverpool, we are still one of the best teams in this league. So yes, it’s a good opportunity for us to get the three points and to close the gap on these teams as well."
Fabinho was quick to remind people that the Reds had gone down to the wire for the infamous quadruple last term, but Klopp's side had to settle for just the two domestic cups as they missed out on the Premier League title by a single point and were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. The 28-year-old added: “This is a winning team.
"The last season was really good, we played all the competitions until the end to win the four [and] we won two. This shows what this team is capable of doing.
“Of course, as I said before, this moment is not good and it’s not easy when we know you can do better, you can play better, you can win more and more games. So yes, we just have to keep focused, keep concentrating, try our best to turn this situation.”
If the Gunners can pick up another win and reclaim top spot in the Premier League, it will be a real statement to their rivals that Arteta has a title contending team on his hands in north London.
