Fabinho's wife responds to transfer report claiming husband's Liverpool future in doubt

Fabinho's wife, Rebeca Tavares, has laughed off claims that the Brazilian midfielder could be set to leave Liverpool in the near future.

The former Monaco man has endured a difficult 2022/23 season, much like many of his teammates. Reports have suggested that his future at Anfield is in doubt, with a decision set to be made on his long-term standing with the Reds.

However, no such call will come until the end of the campaign as Liverpool attempt to recover from an underwhelming start to the season. Rebeca responded to those claims and appears to have rejected them out of hand.

Responding to the claims on an Instagram post, she posted a laughing face emoji in what seems to suggest that there is little truth to the rumours. Fabinho, 29, has been at Anfield since a big-money switch from Monaco back in 2018.

The midfield enforcer has gone on to make 191 appearances for the Reds, scoring 11 goals. He has been a key part of a hugely-successful side under Jurgen Klopp, adding the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and EFL Cup to his impressive trophy cabinet.

He is under contract until the summer of 2026 and only this year expressed his happiness with life on Merseyside. “Liverpool is a special place – there’s nowhere better to play football, so my head is fully focused here,” said Fabinho.

“I don’t know what my situation will be like in four years, but at this moment I only think of Liverpool. I don’t think about moving to another team or country because I’m very happy here. It’s a special club and, most importantly, one which fights for every trophy.

“What I want for my career is to be part of a competitive side and win as much as possible. And the best place to do that is definitely Liverpool.”

Despite the Brazilian hoping to stay at Anfield for the foreseeable future, he could have even more competition to deal with for a starting berth in the Liverpool side. The Reds continue to be linked with a record-breaking move for Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat also appears to be on Liverpool’s January shopping list but the Serie A club have put any potential deal on the buffers. They have reportedly made the decision not to sell any key players - including Amrabat - in the winter window.

Liverpool could potentially be boosted by the return of Arthur sooner rather than later. The Brazilian has been hampered by many injury issues since sealing a loan switch from Juventus but is recovering ahead of schedule.
