Fabian Schar has played down talk that Newcastle United are in good form - and insists he and his team-mates have some way to go before they hit the levels they are looking for.
With Newcastle in the top six and having scored nine goals in two matches, Schar's take on the situation ahead of Sunday's trip to Manchester United underlines the experience that United have in the dressing room these days. The 30-year-old is certainly one of the senior heads in the background and is keen to keep people's feet on the ground.
Speaking after the thumping 5-1 win over Brentford, Schar said: "To be honest, it wasn’t our best game in terms of how we played with the ball.

"Sometimes in the first half we lost quite a few balls in our own half which obviously we don’t want to have so there is a lot more to improve but still to score five goals, the way we played, you can be proud of it and keep doing what we’re doing."
And Schar was quick to remind fans that Newcastle's resounding win could have been different after Ivan Toney was flagged offside after playing a part in what would have been an opening goal for Bryan Mbeumo.
Schar stated that the game still had areas to improve and said: "Yeah, especially the first goal because it came in a difficult period.
"Even they scored an offside goal and they fought like something was in the game but then we scored twice and took it from their game. The way we played was great."
