Fabian Schar says Newcastle United are 'disappointed' not to end the year on a winning note after their goalless draw against Leeds United.
Newcastle dropped points for the first time since October and failed to register a seventh win on the bounce. Despite failing to take all three points, the Magpies sit third in the table, after losing just one of their opening 17 league games.
Schar sent a reminder of how much Newcastle have achieved over the last year, but couldn't hide his disappointment as he claimed the Magpies had enough chances to win the game.

"We had enough chances," Schar told nufc.co.uk. "We should've won the game. Sometimes the ball doesn't want to go in the net and we are disappointed, especially at home. Last game of the year we wanted to keep up the winning run. But that's part of football and we have to be focused on the next game already. And also don't forget what we've achieved this year.
"When you see the game, the amount of chances we had, how much pressure, especially in the second half, we put on Leeds. We should've won the game, so definitely disappointing."
On a positive note, Newcastle registered their eighth clean sheet of the season in the Premier League, which is more than any other club. Newcastle have also conceded the fewest goals in the division (eleven) but Schar insists it is very much a team effort, rather than solely the defensive unit.
"It's been great defensively the whole season," Schar said. "In this game, when you want to win 100% you need to keep your shape, don't concede on the counter-attack. We've done that very well. Just the whole team knows what they're doing, everyone knows their job. How important it is that we defend as a team, it's not just the back-four and the keeper.
"It's the whole team. When we defend up front well, it's easier for us to defend. We've done that really well so far this season, I'm really pleased with that and we need to keep it going."
