The Federal Aviation Administration has implemented restrictions on helicopter flights near Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Va., in response to the recent tragic midair collision. The FAA has prohibited most helicopters from accessing parts of two routes near the airport, with only first responders being granted access to the area.
These restricted routes are believed to be the same ones that the Army Black Hawk helicopter and the American Airlines passenger jet were traveling along when the collision occurred on Wednesday night. The FAA has informed lawmakers that these restrictions will remain in effect indefinitely as they conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA has expressed full support for the FAA's decision, emphasizing the need for operational changes in light of the recent tragedy. The union stressed the importance of not resuming normal operations until more information is gathered about the circumstances that led to the deadliest aviation accident in the United States in 24 years, which claimed the lives of 67 individuals less than 48 hours ago.
