FA Cup: How Much Prize Money Teams Will Receive

The FA Cup gets back underway with the third-round over the coming days, with prize money on offer for all 64 teams participating at this stage of the competition.

Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition, with 32 games taking place between Thursday, January 9 and Monday, January 13.

There are some blockbuster ties including Manchester United’s visit to Arsenal on Sunday.

There is also a host of opportunities for big upsets with Premier League sides facing teams from lower divisions. Stand-out ties include Liverpool vs Accrington Stanley on Saturday and Tamworth vs Tottenham one day later.

All three of those games are among a plethora of fixtures which will be shown live on television.

There will be no replays in this weekend’s third-round ties. This comes following an agreement between the Premier League and the FA due to the increasingly crowded fixture calendar.

All games which are level at full-time will go to extra-time and, if required, a penalty shootout.

FA Cup Prize Money For 2024-25 Season

Prize money has increased in the third-round of the FA Cup this season due to replays being scrapped.

Last season, teams received £105,000 if they won and reached the fourth round of the competition.

This campaign, teams will receive £115,000 if they advance to the last-32. Teams who go out will receive £25,000.

That is of course before factoring in gate receipts and broadcast revenue – which remain considerable sources of income for sides such as non-League Tamworth.

The prize pot also went up for both the first and second rounds of the competition. Prize money from the fourth round remains unchanged from last season.

Teams who win every match from the third round up until the final will receive a total prize pot of £3,910,000.
