F1 news: Chinese Grand Prix returns as 2024 schedule unveiled

Formula 1 has unveiled a 24-race calendar for 2024 with the Chinese Grand Prix returning for the first time since Covid.

Shanghai was scheduled to host a race this season but that was later scrapped though has since been added for April next year because of logistical issues around Covid.

The marathon season will once more begin in Bahrain where the race will take place on a Saturday instead of the traditional Sunday, so too the following race in Saudi Arabia because of Ramadan.

A first Saturday race is due to take place this season with the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix which, as expected, retains its place on the calendar.

Japan has switched back from a more usual end-of-year date to April while the Azerbaijan Grand Prix moves September a week before the Singapore Grand Prix.

Next year’s British Grand Prix will take place at Silverstone on July 7 while Barcelona is switched from its usual May date to June 23.
