F&F shoppers love houndstooth jacket branded 'classy' and 'classic'

F&F is currently retailing a monochromatic houndstooth jacket that shoppers online can’t help but call ‘classy’. On the brand’s official Instagram page, the retailer teased the item with a photo of a model sporting the Black Bouclé Crop Jacket with black leather trousers and a plain black top.

Priced at £32.50, the houndstooth jacket is designed in its typical style, using a black and white colour to accentuate the symmetrical broken check pattern. The post’s caption said: “Go classic with a houndstooth jacket. Jacket, £32.50.”

Fans couldn’t help but agree as a few followers headed to the comments section. One commenter wrote: “Love this classy” while another agreed: “I like [red heart emoji] love really.”

F&F Clothing can no longer be accessed online, notwithstanding F&F becoming a hit amongst fashion lovers and shoppers alike. Despite this, the Tesco owned clothing brand’s Instagram page currently boasts 579K followers.

F&F had grown in popularity due to its affordability, with several of its items becoming so sought after they have been listed on eBay at triple the original prices. Meanwhile, Next have added F&F products to their site.

On the Next website, shoppers still have a chance to purchase the houndstooth jacket, where sizes six to 18 are still available to snag, as sizes 20 and 22 are no longer in stock.

Houndstooth is recognisable for its timelessness, which is said to denote modernity and class. That comes as no surprise, seeing that fast fashion brands such as F&F continue to push the trend by offering cheap prices.

The iconic print has Scottish roots and was later adapted by the wealthy in the 1930, with the pied-de-poule checks becoming a favourite of Christian Dior in 1950.

Simultaneously, houndstooth also began appearing on catwalks, most memorably Oscar de la Renta’s 1992 show and Alexander McQueen 2009 runway.

By the 2010s until today, the pattern is continuously worn time and time again across couture and remains to be highly regarded as a long lasting style both on the runway and in the high street.
