A horrified eyewitness has described seeing a man lying 'lifeless' on the ground after being attacked i n Stockport. It comes as a man continues to be questioned after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the 'serious assault' in Cheadle on Wednesday night (December 21).
It happened on Carrs Road near Roscoe's roundabout at around 11:30pm police said. The 39-year-old victim was rushed to hospital but thankfully his injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.
The Manchester Evening News understands the victim does not have stab wounds and that no weapons were seized at the scene. Police say at this stage they believe it to be an 'isolated incident.'

The road was closed between the Human Appeal building and Alexandra Court, with a cordon in place, for over 12 hours into Thursday afternoon as officers carried out enquries into the incident.
A 33-year-old man remains in custody following his arrest in connection with the attack. One resident at the Abney Court block of flats on the road and close to the scene has now described seeing the violence unfold from his window.
The man, who did not want to be named, said: "I looked out and there were two lads fighting in the Human Appeal car park. Both had their hoods up. They were punching each other, squaring up to each other.
"There was a guy walking his dog, I don't know if he was with them originally but he was trying to stop it. All I heard originally was him screaming. I think his own dog was going for him as he was trying to stop these lads fighting."
He says they moved further up Carrs Road before he saw one of the men lunge at the other causing him to stumble and fall to the floor. He said afterwards he saw one of them lying 'lifeless' on the floor for several minutes.
The witness said he called police after he saw the other man standing over the victim and appearing to rummage through his pockets before running off in the direction of the roundabout as the man with dog ran to the stricken man's aid.
He said despite the industrial action on Wednesday paramedics quickly arrived at the scene followed shortly after by police who 'swarmed' the area and cordoned the road off.
"It was crazy" he said. "I was just sat in bed with my missus, she was asleep I heard the shouting and woke her up to see the commotion and that's when we seen it. I regret waking her up to be honest. She's a bit shaken up from it.
"We've just moved Wythenshawe so we thought we'd escaped all the aggro. It's normally a quiet street this, we've never had any trouble.
Another resident in the block said he heard ‘screaming and shouting’ and a dog barking at around 11:30pm last night. He said he first became aware of the cordon at 4am this morning (Thursday) due to the blue lights of the police vehicles flashing through his window.
The road re-opened and the cordon was lifted shortly after midday.
A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said an investigation had been launched. A spokesperson for the force said: "At around 11:40pm yesterday evening (Wednesday 21 December 2022), officers were called to reports of a serious assault on Carrs Road, Cheadle in Stockport. Officers attended the scene.
"A 39-year-old male was taken to hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
"A 33-year-old male has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in custody for further questioning. Initial enquiries suggest that this incident is an isolated incident."
