Eyewatering Manchester United sale price mooted that makes Newcastle United takeover a bargain

The prospective sale of Manchester United by Joel and Avram Glazer shows just how much of a bargain Newcastle United were to buy.

Recently, the Glazer's confirmed they are open to selling the club they purchased back in 2005 and are reportedly after around £7billion.

In comparison, Newcastle were sold to PIF in October 2021 for £350m, ending Mike Ashley's 14-year reign on Tyneside.

However, when you look at the two clubs fortunes on the pitch of late, it seems staggering how much more Manchester United are mooted to be worth in comparison to that of Newcastle United.

With a valuation of £7billion placed upon it's head, a sale at that price would make Manchester United worth 20 times more than Newcastle.

Given their respective current league positions, the eye-watering disparity between the two seems almost unbelievable.

While Manchester United do appear to making progress under Erik ten Hag, they have just parted ways with forward Cristiano Ronaldo in incredible fashion following his recent controversial interview with Piers Morgan and sit fifth in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are third. Their form this season has been nothing short of magnificent, with spirits high on Tyneside.

The Magpies have the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League and look to be a real contender for European football next term.

While Newcastle have plenty of work to do in the form of building a new training ground, investing in their academy and renovating St James' Park, there can be no doubt that at £350m, the Magpies have been a steal of a buy.

Everyone on Tyneside is currently pulling in the right direction. The club is alive again and looks capable of competing with anyone on their day. Of course, Manchester United's global recognition was always going to mean that it would be worth more than Newcastle.

But 20 times more expensive seems an astronomical sum.

Given how well Newcastle have played following last October's takeover and how positive the noises surround the club are at the moment, there's every chance the £350m PIF paid for the Magpies could end up being an absolute steal.
