'Eye-catching' bets put Doireann Garrihy in the picture for Late Late job after DWTS stint

Bets are being place on who will take on the coveted role of The Late Late Show presenter and a number of big names have been thrown in the mix.

One of the top female names that has recently received some eye-catching bets at the bookies, moving her into the picture for the job, is Dancing With The Stars co-host Doireann Garrihy.

Doireann now stands at 7/1 with BoyleSports to replace Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show after recently completing her first season on Dancing With The Stars.

Despite being a 50/1 outsider at the start of the week, Garrihy is now in fourth place for the top job, behind Claire Byrne, Sarah McInerney and Angela Scanlon.

Claire Byrne remains the favourite but at 8/13 from 4/11, her odds are going in the wrong direction for the first time since BoyleSports chalked up an extensive list of possible successors.

This comes after Ryan Tubridy announced that he would be stepping away from the show in May.

He is set to present his final final Friday night chat show on May 26 and after that producers have revealed that a major change in format could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, Baz Ashmawy has put an end to the rumours that he and Lucy Kennedy could both be presenters of the show next season.

Speaking to the Sunday World, the DIY SOS star shut down the chatter, and said that he hasn’t been contacted by anyone at RTÉ about the job for the time being.

“I love Lucy and I don’t know about her, but no one has spoken to me about it. I think it’s just people having a little bit of fun and mixing up the bookies a bit,” Ashmawy said.

Punters have also been speculating on who will be on the sofa for Tubridy’s last appearance, with Christy Moore and Saoirse Ronan odds-on to show up for a star-studded send-off.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “The betting had settled down until a sudden gamble this week on Doireann Garrihy. She’s chasing down favourite Claire Byrne and one thing punters seem sure about is a woman getting the gig.”
