Los Angeles Fire Department Captain recently described the current wildfire situation as one of the most extreme she has seen in her 25-year career. The erratic winds have been a significant factor in the rapid spread of the fires, with flames jumping across roads towards the ocean.

The department has set up a command post at Rogers Beach, using the roadside parking lot to coordinate their efforts as they battle the unpredictable blaze. The fire's intensity was evident as it reached the beach, consuming two lifeguard towers in its path.

One striking observation made by Captain Kelliher was the ash and smoke being carried by the winds, creating a scene reminiscent of snow or sleet falling from the sky. This visual representation of the fire's impact serves as a stark reminder of the danger posed by the ongoing wildfires.

The fire chief stressed the importance of prioritizing safety above all else, urging residents in the fire's path to adhere to evacuation orders. While the firefight is challenging, the department remains committed to containing the blaze and protecting the community. However, some areas may be beyond saving due to the ferocity of the flames.
