A fifth respiratory clinic has been opened in Adelaide to help treat the ongoing wave of COVID-19 cases and a rise in flu infections.
The clinic at suburban Kilkenny follows those at Pooraka, Parkside, Athelstone and Old Reynella and will operate seven days a week.
They all offer face-to-face, specialised care to adults and children with conditions such as asthma and tonsillitis who are unable to see their usual GP.
Health Minister Chris Picton said the new clinic was expected to cater for more than 200 people a week and play a significant role in reducing the pressure on hospital emergency departments.
"More access to primary health care will also help us to provide more access to antivirals," he said.
The latest figures reveal a big jump in antiviral prescriptions in SA, from 491 a week in late June to 2458 in mid-July.
The treatment is currently available to all COVID-positive patients aged over 70, and over-50s with multiple chronic health conditions.
SA Health reported another 4197 coronavirus cases on Wednesday along with four more deaths.
There are 365 people in hospital with the virus including eight in intensive care units.
