Extinction Rebellion planning protests across petrol pumps in Nottinghamshire

Environmental campaigners Extinction Rebellion have planned protests to take place next week at Nottinghamshire petrol pumps. The group says it wants to encourage drivers in the county to boycott Shell and BP.

The protesters are highlighting that consumers are facing rising fuel costs while Shell and BP continue to make profits. Katherine Buckland, a climate activist from Bulwell said: “There’s no 'good' oil company, but we’d like to discourage people from filling up at Shell or BP." This is over claims the are going expanding, against the advice of scientists.

Etienne Stott, 43, from the Meadows said: “We want to warn motorists what we’re planning, so try to fill up your tank at a different petrol station. If enough of us can avoid these greedy, greenwashing companies, they’ll get the message that we want a sustainable future for our children.”
