Xplore Dundee announces exciting new open-top bus tour for city

Xplore Dundee has announced its plans for this year’s open-top bus tours of the city.

The company released an image of their new bus design before the new service starts in April.

Bosses said they hope the tours 'will add to the local bus company's contribution to Dundee's reinvention as a short-stay tourist destination'.

Named "Discover Dundee", the tour will run daily from April to September, covering the spring and summer tourist seasons.

Buses will run to a half-hourly timetable during the day, seven days a week.

The route will link the Waterfront and City Quay with the City Centre and West Port before climbing up The Law.

Tickets and information will be available from the driver outside Discovery Quay.

There are several attractions along the way, and Xplore Dundee looks forward to working well with partners such as RRS Discovery, Verdant Works, Visit Scotland and the V&A.

The route will connect with other services in the local network, meaning visitors can switch between buses to venture a little further afield.

The company stressed he Discover Dundee tour won't just be for visitors - they described it as ‘the perfect chance for local people to see what's on their doorstep too.’

As a hop-on/hop-off service, tickets will be valid for 24-hrs periods and can be used on the normal bus network too.

Ticket prices will be: £10 for adults (aged 16+); £8 for students and seniors; £5 for children (aged 5-15); and £24 for families.

These fares will tie Dundee with Inverness for the cheapest open top tour in Scotland, meaning great value for visitors and locals alike.

With their bright red livery (complete with a stylish skyline design), you won't be able to miss these buses - and with this exciting new venture starting up soon, you won't want to miss out either.
